    3. Hello, Nottingham was most definitely a town in PG County. A number of families made their home there -- several branches of my ancestors the Warings settled there. There is an historical marker about Nottingham at the intersection of (this is approximate!!) Croom Road (Rt. 382) and Bald Eagle School Road. As an example of activity there, here is an excerpt from Mrs. Bowie’s book "Across the Years in Prince George’s County", from the “Waring” chapter: “Col. John Henry Waring, youngest son of John Waring, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth Margaret Bowie, was born in Nottingham, Prince George’s County, March 19, 1809 … Upon reaching his majority, he received the plantation devised to him by his grandfather Waring [Richard Marsham Waring, Sr.], consisting of thirteen hundred acres lying on the Patuxent River south of Nottingham and known as Marsham’s Rest, but which name he changed to Bald Eagle … Mr. Waring was for many years a vestryman of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was generally known as “Colonel” Waring. He was a Southern sympathizer and incurred the hostility of the Federal Government during the War Between the States." Hope this helps!! Are you sure it is a town you are looking for and not a tract? Alice ==== MDPGEORG Mailing List ==== Please do not post list management messages to the list.
