    1. Harris 1773 - Mt. Tirzah-Charles Co., MD
    2. I was putting away my files on the Harrises of Mt. Tirzah and discovered another source you may want to follow up on. This tells about the whole family and may be able to be obtained locally. Chronicles of St. Mary's, Quarterly Magazine of the St. Mary's County Historical Society. Vol 45 Spring 1997 No. 1. p. 189-193 The main article is about Joseph Harris of "Ellenborough." Col. Joseph Harris b. 1773 - d. 1855 is also buried at Mt. Tirzah. The article is very concise and will provide the information you are looking for. Good Luck Chuck Harris

I don't have all of the information about this property in this families tree but from what I have seen this property must have been very, very large at one time. Just looking at the Wills over the years the property has been parsed out here and there to various descendants. As you will see in the Descendancy Tree of this family, they were in this area for a long, long time. Many of us have combined our collected information on this family into the file below, but I am sure there are others out there, probably descendants of this family, that could tell you a lot more. In one of the paragraphs below I have referenced a book written about this family that is available in the Hall of Records in Annapolis. If you have the time and an interest, you should take a look at this book. It may be available in other places as well. You might try the Charles Co. Historical Society and the historical society at Bowie before going to Annapolis. If I recall correctly, many of this Harris family besides Gwinn Harris re buried at Mt. Tirzah. I hope this helps a little in providing some of the history of this family and this particular piece of property. 2. The other day someone wrote to me about a post I made that include a sibling, Josias Harris. I apologize but I cannot find where I filed the query to followup with this letter. My records for Josias Harris b. abt 1756 in Prince George's Co, MD and died in Mercer Co, KY in 1812. He is the son of James Harris and Edy (Edith) of the same county. James died in 1776 and was the son of John Harris, Senr. Will 1776 of the same county. My records come from work provided by various descendants and shows Josias first married Catherine Martin in 1781 in Port Tobacco. They had the following children: Rezin b. 1781 Barton b. 1783 Nathan b. 1785 Teresa b. 1787 Second Marriage was to Elizabeth (-----------) in 1797 in St. John's Parish. Children: Matilda b. 1799 Llloyd b. 1801 Mary b. 1803 John b. 1806 Josias b. 1809 If anyone has further information about this family, we would love to share what we have with you. Thank you. 1. Benj. Harris m. JaneCrampton, SarahCramphin or SarahCopenhagen?ca 1760, MD,VA
    2. Are these marriages all related? Benjamin Harris married Jane Crampton? Benjamin Harris married Sarah Cramphin? Benjamin Harris married Sarah Copenhagen? Query No. 1: From the 1776 census records of Prince George’s Co, MD- Lower Potomack Hundred we have Benjamin Harris b. 22 Dec 1742 who appears to be married to Jane Crampton. They have a child, John Cramphin Harris b. 1773 living with them in the 1776 census. Note from Carol Mitchell file: [118] Sarah Harris may have held the maiden name of Cramphin.118a With evidence of a Prince George's Co., MD land deed, Sarah married Benjamin Harris before 14 November 1748. [118b] The birth date of Benjamin Harris,Jr., presumed son of Sarah and Benjamin Harris (Sr.), placed the marriage date of Benjamin and Sarah Harris before 1742.[118c] [118a] Without documentation, Mrs. William Hyde Talbott stated that Sarah Cramphin was the wife of Benjamin Harris according to excepts from her undated letter located as a loose paper in the Harris Family File of the Montgomery Co. (MD) Historical Society, Rockville, MD. A search of early Maryland Provincial Court Judgment records circa 1758 or before concerning a judgment involving Thomas Cramphin and wife, executors of John Bowie, deceased, against Benjamin Harris may provide "proof" for the maiden name of Sarah Harris.[144] QUESTION: Does anyone know the ancestry of this Benjamin Harris in the 1776 census of PG, MD b. 1742 who has a child, John Cramphin Harris? Query No 2: It was believed that this Benjamin b. 1742 (reference the Benjamin queried above) was the son of Benjamin Harris (b. 1716 in Cumberland Co, VA according to IGI file 446019) who married Sarah Copenhagen. They had children 1) Sarah b. 13 March 1739 PG Co., MD 2) Mary b. 8 Sept 1740 PG Co., MD 3) Benjamin Jr. b. 12 Dec 1741 PG Co., MD 4) Benjamin b. 22 Dec 1742 PG Co., MD QUESTIONs: 1) Was this Benjamin (b. 1716 in Cumberland Co, VA?) the son of Thomas Harris and Rachel (Maddox?)? 2) Is this Benjamin b. 22 Dec 1742 PG Co, MD the same Benjamin as listed in the 1st query above? 1. Sarah Lanham daughter of Stephen Lanham
    2. Bailey
    3. I am interested in the history of Sarah Lanham (b. abt 1753 PG, MD.)who was the daughter of Stephen Lanham and Leah Beall.... I have a Zadock Lowe (b. 1748-1750) who married a Sarah ???? (1748-1754 ). This couple had their first child Nehemiah Lowe (b. 1769) who was registered in the Upper Chapel of Ease in Point Pleasant west of Upper Marlboro.. Zadock and Sarah Lowe settled in Monroe County, West Virginia and lived until 1839... I believe Zadock's father to be William Lowe who owned Beall Benovalence just ast of Forestville on Turkey Branch Creek. Would appreciate any information on this Sarah Lanham.... Thanks Bill Bailey, Antioch, Ca., 94509

    1. Susannah Winn or Susannah Plummer, w-o Wm. Harris, PG, MD abt 1770?
    2. I have pencilled in that one researcher had Susannah, wife of William, as a "Plummer." Does anyone know anything about this? William Harris b. 1747 in Prince George's Co., MD is the son of James (Edward) Harris and Edy (?). James (Edward) Harris was the eldest son of John Harris, Senr. of PG, MD. Most people have William marrying Susannah Winn in 1769 and having the following children: 1) Nancy 2) Barton (Bartain) 3) George Stone 4) James 5) Fielder Bowie 6) Elizabeth 7) Sarah Ann 8) Josiah Thanks Chuck Harris
