He married (1) Mary BRASSEUR, widow of Benois BRASSEUR (2) Christian DORRUMPLE (Christian m. John SCOTT after STERLING's death ca 1685). Christian DORRUMPLE (DALRYMPLE) is either the daughter or sister of William 1 DALRYMPLE. She supposedly had two children by Thomas STERLING, Elizabeth and Thomas. Conflicting data indicates that: Either Christian's brother or father, William DALRYMPLE, married Elizabeth STERLING - who would be Christian's daughter by Thomas STERLING? Various other references indicate that Christian's father was James DALRYMPLE, her brother was William, and one - or both of them (depending on the source!) - married a daughter of Thomas STERLING.
