Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to figure out the appropriate line to hook to my family. There are hundreds of each in this country. It has been suggested that these two families were related back in England and that they were also related to the Bucy variation. As far as I know none of this has been absolutely confirmed. If we accept the Bucy lineage, arguments can be made tracing the name back to 1066 and the Norman Conquest. There are indeed Bucy's mentioned in the Doomsday Book. There have been several researches done and articles written about Paul Busey and his descendants. Paul arrived in Maryland in 1651 as an indentured servant to his step-father, Henry Cox. I have been to Maryland and obtained copies of their original land grants dated 5 January 1651 and later. Two well documented sources of information are: "The Bussey (Busey) Families of Maryland" by Donald L. Wilson that appeared in the Prince George's County Genealogical Society Bulletin beginning in April, 1979. "Ancestry and Descendants of Mathew Busey of Maryland, North Carolina, and Kentucky" compiled by Mrs. Eva Murrell Harmison and Miss Emma M Rose that appeared in the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research beginning in Fall 1957. Mrs. Harmison was on the editorial staff at the time. We should keep in mind that these emigrants were planters with limited education so spelling errors and clerical modifications may have easily occurred. Not every aspect of their lives were recorded, however land records and wills were very important to them and constitute some of the more reliable sources of family information. Hugh W.
