Elberta: Samuel Royston (b. abt. 1748 -) married Rachael Jacobs in Baltimore Co. by Dr. West on 18 Mar 1784. (from Layton files at MD Hist Soc.) He is not in the Estate Administration of Thomas Royston (sometimes Riston) and Margaret Sinclair. He may be related but maybe not in that family group. Some list him as the oldest son. I have not looked for him in Anne Arundel 1810 census. I have not crossed paths with a Zadock Ryston (or variations). Yes, Thomas, can be found as Royston and Riston. (The Ancestry of Dr. Franklin B. McClung, by J. S. Guilford @ Balt Co Gen Soc). He chose John Royston, prob. his Uncle, guardian on Apr 15 1789 Baltimore Co. Orphan's Proc. WB#2:104. I do not know where he and his wife Clarissa H. Watts lived. He was a minor at his father's death and Orphan's court proceedings, so born after (probably) 1768. I don't more about his age. Do you know anything about Clarissa Watts? Are these folks connected to the Thomas Royston (sometimes Riston) and Margaret Sinclair family? Have you found Thomas Royston, son of Thomas and Margaret going by the name Royston or Riston, or sometimes both like his father? Could he be the Thomas Riston who was enumerated in the Alexandria, DC 1820 Census? The oldest male is shown to be 45 and upwards, making him born 1775 or before. As I understand it, the son Thomas was born around 1774.
