    1. [MDGEN] BRILHART - Where to start?
    2. Sue Renkert
    3. I am a new subscriber to this list. I have been researching my family for 25 years, but this is my very first venture into Maryland. I don't know where to start! I have a very small lead that my ggg grandfather, Samuel BRILLHART/BRILLHARDT and his wife Elizabeth may have come from Maryland. The first record I have of them is the birth of a child in 1815 in Aaronsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania. A reference to a John BRILLHART/BRILLHARDT in the same area mentions that "there are many Brillharts in the area around Baltimore, Maryland." I do not have access here to census indexes for 1790-1810. Does anyone know if these are accessible online? The one census index I do have access to is 1850, and it lists two Brilharts (David & John) in Caroline County. I found an online index for Caroline County for 1790 and 1800 and 1810 and 1820, and there are no entries for this surname, so I guess Caroline County is a dead end. Any suggestions would be most welcome!!! Thank you, Sue Renkert Fairbanks, Alaska

    3. I checked the census at Ancestry.com and they are all in PA except the two you found in 1850. I checked Brilhart and Brillhart. That is Carrol County not Caroline County. 1850 BRILHART DAVID Carroll County MD 334 6th District Federal Population Schedule MD 1850 Federal Census Index MDS5a195361 1850 BRILHART JOHN Carroll County MD 351 6th District Federal Population Schedule MD 1850 Federal Census Index Brilhart, Samuel PA YORK CO. 349 1800 10110-0001000 Brilhart, Samuel PA YORK CO.
