Hi to everyone on the list, I don't know if anyone has access to records this old, but I am searching for Thomas Elwell, born abt. 1750-1751 who married an Elizabeth in Dec. or Jan. 1785-1786. I received the pension records for Thomas and she said "they were married on the Baltimore line." They had several children: Hannah, David, Susanna, Jonathan....possibly more. I am trying to find the last name of Elizabeth and where she was born. I am pretty sure Thomas was born in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Thomas served in the Revolutionary War as a Matross and an Artificer. He stated his occupation before the war was a "cooper." Most of these terms I am unfamiliar with. If anyone has records this old, I would appreciate any information on this couple. I am not even sure there was census records or tax records for this period of time. This is the different spellings I have found in different census records: Allowell, Allwell, Elwee, Elnell, Elwill, Elwil, Ellwell, Elwell, Elwel. The most common: Elwell, Ellwell. Thank you so much for all of the help. Marsha
