Hi If anyone needs information on a Maryland Ministers from 1634 to 1990 by the late Edna Kanely which is a 2 volume set of books I would be glad to do a look up. Remember this is not a complete listing there are many that are missing including street peachers that were in Baltimore City area, some Africian American Minsters; some that were at churches with no donomanation. Also remember that some minsters served at several churches at one time some in different counties. For example John Coleman served during the Revolutionary War era in Baltimore, Harford and Frederick Cos. with his residence mainly being in Harford County... Sincerely, Christopher T. Smithson

Maybe we can find a sibling or two for your Jacob. There were quite a few Rohrs in Frederick County and it is amazing that they seem to have a preference for women named "Catherine." Here is what I have found: (All marriages were in Frederick County unless otherwise noted) 26 Nov 1791 Rudolph Rohr, Jr. married Catherine Runner 26 Mar 1807 Jacob Rohr married Elizabeth Hauer 11 May 1807, Baltimore County Andrew Rohr married Elizabeth Gall 3 Sep 1820 Ann Marie Rohr married David Smith 22 Sep 1810 Catherine Rohr married David Rohr 24 Jul 1845 David Rohr married Jane A. Crawford 29 Apr 1830 Eleanor Ann Rohr married Samuel John Lindsey 4 May 1826, Baltimore County Elizabeth Rohr married Albert Koster 13 Dec 1848, Washington County Elizabeth Rohr married Wisset Wolke 1 Apr 1826 Frederick Rohr married Catherine Arnold 24 Dec 1816 George Rohr married Catherine Koontz 11 Sep 1830 Louisa Rohr married Thomas Brashear 15 Aug 1820 Peter Rohr married Sophia Hoover 6 Jun 1840 Priscilla Rohr married James Shores 28 Nov 1809 Sophia Rohr married Jacob Martin, Jr. 13 Aug 1829 Sophia Rohr married John Norris Now, let's look for Rohrs in Virginia. 4 Nov 1803, Rockingham, VA Jacob Rohr married Deborah Travis 3 Jan 1811 John Rohr married Catherine Miller 9 Dec 1807 Elizabeth Rohr married John Butcher I was unable to find a Stansbury (Stanbury) family in Frederick County, MD, but there were several located in Frederick County, VA. 19 Aug 1788 Ezkiel Stanbury married Esther Kremer 26 Aug 1789 Jemimah Stanbury married James Pearson 12 Nov 1794 Mary Stanbury married Thomas Carter 29 Jun 1797 Sarah Stansbury married George Lafolett (from FTM Marriage Index, MD NC VA, CD # 4) Hope this is helpful to you! Cordially, Sue
This is my first query on this new list. I'll try to be brief. For 13 years I've been looking for the parents and siblings of Jacob Stansbury Rohr, Sr. said to have been born in Frederick, Md. or Frederick Co. Oct.13, 1782--and moved to Harrisonburg, Va. in1798 where he established a big Carriage building business. He married Deborah Travis Nov.4, 1803. They had 13 children born in Rockbridge, Va. We know JSR 's father was John, he witnessed the marriage. I've heard--(no reliable info ) that he had brothers Philip and Jacob and Johns name may have been John Rudolph. Interesting note from Travis records was John was listed as JSR's father married to a Cathering King October 23 1779. (this was writtten on the records by hand) Other info says he was married to Catherine Stansbury on October 23, 1779- same date-(the latter makes more sense as there are more Stansbury's down the line. ) We know something is wrong with the same date for 2 wives. John, the father I'm looking for was born Sept 29, 1760 and my info says Frederick Co. Md. Does anyone have census records or material they could do lookups for me--and i'll be happy to pay a reasonable amt. I am not a polished genie like most of you sound--my 76 years does not make me any smarter with the computer, but I keep on plugging to leave history behind. Here is where I am stuck--with the parents of JSR and the parents of those parents if possible. Thanks ahead if anyone has any clues or suggestions--I just now got on the list and so happy that I may run into something. Peter, I don't have the Cole photo, but I think we can exchange info on other stuff. I have people in/near Newark, and have surname Curtis. Others in DE, MD: Holten, Dale, Ellison, Eliason, more. There is a website somewhere, with photos... a long shot, but worth looking (indexed). I'll have to look for that URL. If you would like to mail direct to me, maybe we can find something of mutual interest, then come back to the list with findings. I think we have briefly corresponded before, I'm the one with the lost McCue wife. Thanks & best wishes on photo. Dear Friends: For many years I have been trying to locate a photo of my mother's first husband who was born in Cherry Hill (Cecil Co., MD.) in 1885 to James & Mary (nee Drennen) Cole. I am searching for: SAMUEL EDWARD COLE (or Edward Samuel) of Newark, DE. He was a member of the Concordia Hill Lodge No. 67, F. and A. M. of Philadelphia in the early and mid 1900s and an officer in the Knights of Pythias. A member of the Methodist Church of Newark and a volunteer fireman. He died in Newark, DE. in June 1940 while living with his sister Ida (Mrs.Wm. ) Morrison of 28 Choate St., Newark. Samuel Cole was a well-known employee of the Curtis Paper Mill and he and my mother, Clara, lived at 48 No. Chapel St., in 1918. Any help or suggestions you can offer would be much appreciated and a reward paid. Thank you. Peter B. McCue 14 Orchard Place East East Hanover, N.J. 07936-1555 peter19252000@juno.com
Would like to hear from someone who studied the early Short family, 1600's, 1700's. Please. Thank you. Regards Dick
Hi, Couple of questions, first, does anyone know where I can find the 1810 thru 1840 actual census for Wor. Co. The second questions is more difficult: Looking for a Mary E. Pruitt of Wor. Co. Was looking thru the 1850 census and found the following: Geo Pruitt 31 Susan 26 William Pruitt 52 Sally Pruitt 38 Robert Pruitt 30 Mary Pruitt 28 Benjamin Pruitt 48 Sinah 42 William Pruitt 25 Sarah Pruitt 21 Eliza Pruitt 30 Rebecca Pruitt 65 Thoms 22 My Mary Elizabeth Pruitt was bc 1824, so some of these are pretty close in timeframes........does anyone have any information on these Pruitt families. She is not listed as a dau of Elijah Pruitt, she also had a non married sister name of Phyma, or Fannie........any help would be appreciated, I have and can find nothing on her. She married Elijah Brittigham 1848 in Wor Co. Mary E. and her sister are both buried in the Goodwill Church Cemetery, Stockton area I think. thanks, Joanie Sarah 221
Is the cemetery in Maryland ?............Homer Young, ALBATMY@aol.com
My cousin Paul Willing and I recorded a Catlin cemetery in August. It's on the s/s Capitola road, about 1/4 mile east of the Nanticoke road. There's a small, grass lane with a cable across it. Cemetery is back in the woods about 50' from the edge of the plowed field, which is west of the grass lane. I can't recall the names, but maybe Paul still has the listing? I just checked Shari Handley's site and they aren't there yet. Sue: Thanks for you input. That John Lee Hanzsche was a descendant of John G. Hanzsche and not related to me unless you go back to Saxony. That branch didn't stay in Baltimore long before moving west to Ohio, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Texas. I am in communication with them. Re Thompson: I presume you have researched Irish and Scottish sources from whence the Thompsons came. Sincerely, Craig craigten@aol.com
