Hello everyone , if anyone on the list tried to contact me within the last month , my computer crashed and i changed my eamil . i noticed there wasn't much activity on the list , so now it is a good time to have a roll call I thought to start the New Year off we should do a roll call .. For anybody that is new to the list and don't know what a roll call is this is a place where you can post your surnames so other list members might be researching the same surnames Guidelines for the Roll Call are as follows : 1 - When posting in the subject line please include yr if known and County and surname . Always change the subject line . 2- make sure you are sending your post to the list and not to me . 3- you can use your brickwalls . but please state that is your brickwalls . There was a problem with MSN this week. It refused to acknowledge Rootsweb existance and bounced all mail to its subscribers. It appears to be resolved now but all MSN users should check with Password Central at Rootsweb to see how many Lists they've bounced off. Go to http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ fill in the form and Rootsweb sends you a list of all the Lists you subscribe to. Then go to the Threaded Archives and see what you missed: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ fill in the exact name of the List (i.e., MDGEN) and a long list of all the postings by month/year will show up, the current posts are at the bottom. ===== Kathi Jones-Hudson MD Tombstone Transcription Project Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/maryland.html __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Thank you Sheryl, but my man did not come to this country until 1754 and changed his name from Buchli/Buchele/Buehl/Buhl ...... to Beighley sometime in the next 10 years. So I think we do not have a connection. Thank you, though. Sylvia
MD State Archives has most church records on microfilm with baptisms over 100 years old. Jean _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

I am seeking a Doris Lewis, born in/around S.Balto. (Federal Hill/Locust Point Area) who would have been born about 1920-1930ish. She had a child about 1954 and she and that child have some sort of connection to my father. Love to hear from you in case you can help. Regards D. Smith
Where would the search begin for Baptismal records if you think you know the Church. I think my people were baptized at St. Pauls 5th Reformed German Church and I am anxious to try and get my hands on as many of the baptismal records as possible. I couldn't find birth records the last two times I was at Md. State Archives and I don't know if that's because the city wasn't keeping records from 1880 through about 1901, or my eyes are just getting too old to catch the spelling variations that could and do occur. In many counties there are marriage license records starting anywhere from 1776 to 1798 to the present. Many have been published e.g. Frederick Co from 1776 to 1863 (in 3 volumes) , Anne Arundel Co., 1777-1877, Washington Co 1798-1860, Carroll Co from its founding 1837 to 1899. Baltimore Co records from 17776 to 1800 have been printed at least twice, there is a card index file withall Baltimore Co marriage licenses from 1776 to 1851. Others such as Allegeny Co marriage licenses have been printed in Western Maryland Genealogy Magazine. Note: that marriage by Banns was also legal in MD as an alternative to marriage licenses until the 1940s... There are no birth records until 1875 in Baltimore City and 1896 in most of the counties. What is found are births and baptisms recorded in church registers. Lee
Where do I find these records? Do any go back another 20 years? Thanks for any help!
