The St. Peter Catholic Church 150 Years book on p. 14 has an item I am hoping someone can tell me more about. It reads: The stone for the present Church was donated by Charles Shaffer. It was hand cut from "the cliffs at the Shaffer Hill Cemetery". This place was also know as the burial site for Catholics before Father O'Sullivan purchased the property that is now part of the Oakland Cemetery. Does anyone know where Shaffer Hill Cemetery is? Are there stones listed in Garrett County Graves? I am trying to find out about a Lizzie Shaffer who was married to Henry Haskell and died before 1866. This cemetery would be a logical place to look for connections. Any help appreciated. Art Grady --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
