Hello, fellow listers! I have found that my grandparents were married in Oakland, Garrett County. They were both from Weston, Lewis County, WV. I've also learned that it was a common practice for many couples to travel to Oakland to marry. I feel sure my grandparents took the train up from Weston to Oakland, walked over to the courthouse and applied for their marriage license. I know that they married in Oakland but here's my question. In 1905, when my grandparents married in Oakland, would couples have gotten married right at the courthouse or was there a church couples usually went to in Oakland where a minister would have performed the ceremony?? I have a copy of thier marriage certificate and marriage license and on the one of them it states that E. Manges, Minister, performed the ceremony recorded the marriage. Is there anyone who knows who Rev. E. Manges was or what church he was affiliated with??? Thanks for any help you can provide! Claudia Pell-Salvatore
