    3. December 27, 1962 - The Republican Mrs. Oliver R. Leighton Mrs. Laura Ann Leighton, widow of Oliver R. Leighton, died Tuesday evening, December 25, in Garrett County Memorial hospital in Oakland where she was admitted earlier in the day. Deceased had been in failing health for a number of years. She was a daughter of the late William Taylor and Sarah Lewis Sines and was born in this county April 18, 1879. She was aged 83 years. Her husband died in 1927. Surviving are five sons, Russell H. Leighton, Floyd B. Leighton, Clarence H. Leighton, Ralph V. Leighton, and Alvie L. Leighton, all of Oakland; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ida Markley, Oakland; two half brothers, Jonas W. Sines Oakland; and Silas Sines, College Park. Four of the sons are connected with Leighton Bros. garage, and Floyd B. is president of the Garrett National Bank in Oakland. Deceased was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Leighton-Durst Funeral home in Oakland, in charge of Rev. J. Stanley Earhart, pastor of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery. September 20, 1973 - The Republican Miles J. Livengood Miles J. Livengood, 67, of Swanton, died in Garrett County Memorial hospital, Oakland, on Wednesday, September 12. Born in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Wilson and Elizabeth Otto Livengood. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, New Germany, and he was a former deacon of the church. Survivors include his widow, Ruth V. Jenkins Livengood; five sons, John, Walter, and David Livengood, Swanton; William Livengood, Mt. Lake Park; and Ralph Livengood, Deer Park; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Pratt, Spencer, Ind.; and Mrs. Arlene Tichnell, Elkton; a brother, Faye Livengood, Springs, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Rembold, Springs; and 14 grandchildren. The body was taken to the Newman Funeral home in Grantsville. Funeral services were conducted from the Trinity United Church of Christ Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Ernest Rumbaugh officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. July 5, 1979 - The Republican Mrs. Miles Livengood Mrs. Ruth V. Livengood, 67, of Route 2, Swanton, died Thursday, June 28, at her home. Born in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Viola (Stephens) Jenkins. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the North Glade Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles J. Livengood, in 1973. Surviving are five sons, John R. Livengood, Walter L. Livengood, and David L. Livengood, all of Swanton; Ralph W. Livengood, Deer Park, and William R. Livengood, Mt. Lake Park; two daughters, Mrs. Arlene Tichnell, and Mrs. Wilma Pratt, of Spencer, Ind.; three brothers, Roy Jenkins, Frostburg; Ray Jenkins and Robert Jenkins, both of Grantsville; two sisters, Mrs. Alcy Housel, Cumberland, and Mrs. Lula Smith, Winchester, Va.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body was taken to the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville. Services were conducted at the Trinity United Church of Christ by the Revs. Ernest Rumbaugh and Donald Matthews. Interment was in the Trinity United Church of Christ cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Trinity United Church of Christ memorial fund.
