Hello Walt, Pat Hook, & anyone else interested. I found some entries in the 1870 census I thought might be of interest. Henry Paugh (parents unknown) was living near Joseph W. Warnick who is supposed to be married to Sarah C. Paugh. I don't know what connection there might have been between Henry Paugh and Sarah C. (Paugh) Warnick. 1870 Federal census, Allegany County, MD, Election District #4, page #11 or 62a, Westernport P. O., SK Image 62a taken Aug. 3, 1870. The Chestnut Grove Church area of Garrett County. 70/ 70 All born in MD. "Warnick, Joseph W.", WM age 30 (1840), Farm Laborer, no Real Estate, $500 Personal Estate, cannot read or write. "Sarah C.", WF age 29 (1841), Keeping House, cannot read or write. "Wm. (M. I. illegible)", WM age 4 (1866), at home. "Mary A.", WF age 3 (1867), at home. Those nearby Charles, 34; Edward, 70; William H., 56; Jos. G. (should be John G.), 51; and Otho, 27; BARNARD. "Paugh, Henry, 42". Henry P., 54 & David W., 21, "LOER" (Lower, Lohr). Moses, 30; William, 35; James W., 36; John, 38 TICHNELL. "A--- J., 44; Joseph W., age 30 WARNICK. Joshua TICHNEL, 37 ............... 1870 Federal census, Allegany County, MD, Election District #4, page #10 or 61b, Westernport P. O., SK Image 61b taken Aug. 3, 1870. The Chestnut Grove Church area of Garrett County. 62/ 62 All born in MD. "Paugh, Henry", WM age 42 (1828), Farmer, no Real Estate, $1000 Personal Estate, born in MD, unable to read or write. "Hannah", WF age 53 (1817), Keeping House, born in MD, cannot read. "Mahala", WF age 14 (1856), At Home, born in MD, attended school, cannot read. (Next Page) "Paugh, Thompson", WM age 12 (1858), Farm Work, born in MD, cannot read. "Sarah" (Paugh), WF age 81 (1789), born in MD. Avy "Hannah" Paugh is supposed to have been the daughter of Henry Thomas Kight and Sarah Sharpless. Sarah Sharpless is supposed to have been born in 1788. The fact that "Sarah" in the record above is listed as "Paugh" may be misleading. It could have been a mistake on the part of the census taker. If her married name WAS Paugh, that might point to her being Sarah Davis, wife of Michael Paugh, Jr.. HOWEVER, nothing seems to indicate Michael Paugh had a son Henry. Those nearby (same page) Charles, 34; Edward, 70; William H., 56; Jos. (should be John G.), 51; and Otho, 27; BARNARD. "Paugh, Henry, 42". Samuel, Do you have any lineage on your Ruth Fitzwater? Les ----- Original Message ----- From: "Samuel J.
