DR. HENRY WHEELER MC COMAS Service for this prominent Oakland physician were held from the Methodist Church with Rev. W. S. Paterson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. David C. Trimble, rector of the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. The service at the cemetery was in charge of Garrett Lodge No. 113, Knights of Pythias, of which he was a member. For the past several months Dr. McComas had been confined to bed at the home of his son, R. C. McComas, under care of nurses. He was one of the oldest practicing physicians in Western Maryland. He served as Mayor and councilman of Oakland, a member of the State Senate, and for the past four years as a member and treasurer of the State Conservation Commission, to which office he was appointed in 1035 by former Governor Harry W. NICE. He was the son of the late Dr. J. Lee and Ellen WHEELER MC COMAS, and was born February 12, 1865. After attending public schools in Oakland, the University of West Virginia and his graduation from University of Maryland Medical School in 1888, he came to Oakland and began the practice of his profession. Dr. McComas was a charter member of Garrett Lodge No. 113, Knights of Pythias, he was also founder and first president of the Oakland Rotary Club. He was survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie WEST MC COMAS; four children, Mrs. Edward C. LAWRENCE, Mrs. Paul W. McINTIRE, R. C. McCOMAS and Henry W. McCOMAS, all residents of Oakland.
