The PAUGH family was among the earliest settlers of what is now Garrett County; Michael and Johannes (John) PAUGH were listed as settlers East of the Great Backbone when the military lots were surveyed in 1787. I list him as the son of Johannes Paugh I and Sarah ?. His parents died in Deer Park MD 1860 and abt. 1825 respectively. And this Isaac. (Census report transcribed by Sam, I think) Isaac resided in Preston County, VA in 1850. 1850 census, Preston County, Virginia, District 45, Page 448A, Ancestry.com Image 221, taken Oct. 11, 1850. All born in VA; neither parent able to read or write. 1275/ 1275 "Isaac Paugh", WM age 34 (1816), Farmer, no Real Estate. "Ruth Paugh", WF age 36 (1814), born in VA. "Mary M.", WF age 11 (1839). "Margery", WF age 6 (1844). "Rebecca", WF age 3 (1847). "Sarah E.", WF 6/12 (born about March 1850).
