October 7, 1937 - The Republican Joseph Lee Ross Funeral services for Joseph Lee Ross, 50, brother of Clerk of the Circuit Court Albert G. Ross, who died in the Mount Alto Hospital, Washington, D.C., last Thursday was held from his late residence in East Oakland Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. C. A. Shilke, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, officiating. He was a war veteran and for several years he was in ill health. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Ross; one brother, A. G. Ross; two sisters, Hattie Graham of Piqua, Ohio, and Mrs. Edith Margaret Junkins of Kitzmiller, Interment was made in the Oakland Cemetery. March 10, 1938 - The Republican Katherine R. Rasche Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine R. Rasche were held Monday morning from St. Peter's Catholic Church of which she was a member for many years. She died Saturday afternoon after being practically bedfast for about twelve years. She was age 86 years. She was born in Ottawa, Canada, in 1851, and came to this country when her father built the church of St. Peter in Westernport. She came to this county in 1878 upon invitation of Rev. Joseph Galen, pastor of St. Peter's here, to open the first parochial school in Garrett County. This undertaking was shortlived and in the year following she began teaching in the public schools. In 1879 she married Henry Augustine Rasche, who operated a mill in Oakland. Among her many accomplishments were writing poetry, performing at the organ and oil painting which have won wide recognition. For many years she was the organist and choir director of St. Peter's Church here. She is survived by three sons: Dennis, Oakland; Harry, Union! town; Leo, New York City; and three daughters, Mrs. James P. Treacy, Mrs. Veronica Robertson, Mrs. Agnes Brooks, Chicago; and one brother, Dr. Rowan of Pittsburgh, Pa.
