My question may have a simple answer - but I sure haven't been able to find it... It looks like my 2nd great grandfather was enumerated twice in the 1860 census. The children are the same, even the servant - but the neighbors are different. Also, the Personal Value is abt 10x more on one of the entries than another. I thought that the information was as applied on Jun 1, 1860. What happens if a person moved during the census year - and what were the dates for the census? Some of the pages have a January date with the 1860 shown with a line drawn through the 0, and on some of these, a 1 is written in beside it I went over some pages and saw Dec 1860 then about Jan 4, some of the pages look like described above. How long did they have to collect the data? And was a person supposed to answer with that day's information, or in retrospect? Help!
