Carolyn, The courthouse fire in Kingwood of Preston County was in 1869. I am interested in years later than that. By the way, I have Lockhart's book of marriages, births and deaths in Preston Co. during the 1850s. I can do lookups if anyone gives a specific name. I am sorry, but I do not have time to look-up entire families. The book is wonderful because it gives so much detail. It is well worth the purchase price if anyone is looking for those statistics. Roy found the files in a basement of the archives of Richmond, I believe. They were becoming covered with mildew, so his recording the information is a great service.
