Hi Pat, A bit more on the Rebecca R. Friend (b:Oct.17.1806 d: May.1882, d/o Elizabeth Ward & John Lewis Friend Jr.) of the Sang Run area who married John Johnson. Her husband John died rather young (45 yr. old) from what used to be called "galloping consumption", leaving Rebecca alone to raise their two children: a daughter Luvinia Elizabeth Johnson (1839 ~1926) and son Hilary Johnson (b: abt.1843). Rebecca never remarried. Luvinia married Amos Wesley Friend (s/o James Friend & Rebecca Willison) and had three children that I know of:: (1) Rachel Emma (Jan.1859 ~Apr.19.1860), (2) Smith McClellan (Jun.06.1862 ~ Jan.10.1953, who married Adelia "Delia" Alice Friend, d/o Sarah Ann VanSickle & Joshua Monroe Friend) and (3) Mary Cornelia (Dec.09.1863, who married Elijah Hoye). I don't think Hilary ever married, at least I haven't found a wife and family for him yet. In the 1880 census 73 yr. old Rebecca and 37 yr. old Hilary are found living in Amos and Luvinia's Sang Run household. All I know about John Johnson right now is what's in Indian Blood. I still suspect that John was a brother or close kin to William Johnson of Sang Run, the father-in-law of Henry Friend of N. ------------ The only "Rebecca Jane Friend" I have on file right now that MIGHT fit the one in question (the one that married James O. Tuhill), was born Jan. 1863, BUT...she is one of the Braxton Co. WV line of Friends. She is the eldest d/o Barbara Ann Hall & Jonas Bluford Friend (s/o Sarah Butler & Jonas B. Friend, s/o Elizabeth Skidmore & Jacob Friend). I find this Rebecca, at age 17, in the 1880 census living with her family in Otter, Braxton, WV. Unfortunately I have no additional info on this Rebecca yet, such as marital, death date/place, etc. or anything that would place her in Garrett Co. at a later time. Sorry, just haven't done that much work on this line yet. Of course....if her mother/step-mother Barbara Ann HALL is any relation to our Garrett Co. Prudence HALL and Charles Friend Sr. however, that would be a link. Hmmm? Bye for now, Kathleen ============= 1880 census: Jonas B. FRIEND Self M Male W 52 VA Farmer VA VA Barbra A.
