    1. Re: [MDGARRET] Spiker & Shrout
    2. Kenneth, Per the Bittinger Book: Henry Spiker the the third child of Adam Spiker and "Annie" Reckner. The first born, Michael Spiker was born abt 1813. Joseph Spiker, the sixth child was b. 1/14/1824--Given that a child was born every 2 years and Henry was the 3rd born, he was probably b. abt 1819-20. Henry m Lavina ? (no other info there) -- If he were 20 when he married, that would be around 1840. Jacob "Jake" Bittinger (late 1840's-3/15/1929) m. (1) Goldie Ellen Fazenbaker (b. abt 1847-d. 12/19/1912)--seemed to have lived in the vacinity of Bear Hill; m. (2) Jennie Mae Shrout (3/22/1897-8/29/1980). Jake and Jennie Mae's Children: (It would appear from the dates of the children, Jake and Jennie could have married anywhere between 1913-16 judging by the ages of their first two children. That's as close as I could get with the information available in the Bittinger Book. It also appears Jennie Mae was about 50 years younger than Jake. Daughter (died as an infant) Orpha Roberta Bittinger (1/14/1918) Alvie Bittinger (died as an infant) Clarence Hillary Bittinger (b. 2/22/1920) Ervin Walter Bittinger (8/7/1923) Glenn Elwood Bittinger (8/22/1928) So, it is likely Jenny m. Henry Spiker sometime after Jake died (1929) and would have been in her early 30s at that time. There was more information on the Bittinger children, but nothing more about the Spiker union.
