Carolyn, Sometimes the B and D are indiscernible from handwriting--Seems awful close to me. I've seen a lot worse spelling and pronunciation of the same surnames. The individual names within the family also lead me to believe it must be the same surname. The only thing left is the dates -- do they match up? Probably no census to verify or match to see if the neighbors are the same but the surname written differently. So many puzzles. Lois
