The information for this was taken from an > obituary that I think I got from Pat. > > Wendy =========================== Hey Wendy, You're absolutely right, Dear! I have a copy of Alvin's obit from our good Pat as well and it does say Oct.10.1888. I guess I just hadn't gotten around to checking his file against it and correcting the error yet. Thanks so much for pointing this out! I've taken care of that now. . I thought I had gotten that Aug.1889 date off the census but I see it says Aug.1887! http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/md/garrett/census/1900/42-08a.gif I may have scanned one too many census sheets that day and my tired old eyes were playing tricks on me, confusing his birth year with his sister Blanch's directly below. But this then raises the question of the birthdate I have for his sister Blanch in my files. While the 1900 census lists her as 1889, my files say 1891. Hmmm? I may have gotten the date from Paul King's site at GenCircles. http://www.gencircles.com/users/kingpaul/2/data/27556 He too lists Alvin as Aug.1889 and Blanch as Jul.1891. ~ Say, while I was rechecking that source, I spotted a link at Paul's site to a Richard Keefer's site also at GenCircles. http://www.gencircles.com/users/rkeefer/1/data/2070 He has posted a list of children for Stephen Jr. & Mary too. According to Richard's list there was a daughter, child #9, named "Daisey E. Friend, born 1901". He lists his source as the 1910 census for Sang Run. Does anyone know anything about her? She's a new one for me. He also lists child #10 as "Vespie M., born Jun. 1908", also according to the 1910 census. I don't have access to the 1910 census so I wasn't able to recheck this info. =========================== ----- Original Message ----- From: Wendy Mammoliti <wmammoliti@cogeco.ca> To: <MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2003 9:01 PM Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] friend/sines > Kathleen, > > Regarding Marie Vespie Friend - born in 1908 - are you sure of the birth > date? Will keep poking about for answers... Bye for now, Kathleen
