Dear Lois, Like you, I never met Walt in person, but felt as if he were a close friend. In fact, a few years back, I sent Walt a photo of the Kempton school that he put on the Garrett Co website. He was helpful and supportive. When I found my family in a census and the Warnicks were neighbors, I emailed Walt and asked if it were his family.. sure enough our family had been neighbors for many years. This reinforces a message a few days back about the Northern Lights (which I don't see in California) and the true meaning and importance of "genealogy"... we honor the memory and love of people we have never met, who live thousands of miles away or lived decades before us, but who will be remembered with fondness and gratitude.
