John H. Friend, Private, enlisted May 27, 1862 in 3rd Reg. Potomac Home Brigade Infantry Co D., died Oct. 11, 1863. This is listed in the History & Roster of MD Volunteers, War of 1861-1865. Don't know if this is the one you are looking for. Shirley D.
