Harriett, how did you know where to go get the discharge papers? Is it always in the town he came home to? -------Original Message------- From: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, October 22, 2003 1:07:54 PM To: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MDGARRET] Re: Hoffman, posted on the MDFREDER LIST In a message dated 10/22/03 11:28:46 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Pat125@erols.com writes: > > On October 22, 1773, four men who had murdered their master, Archibald > Hoffman, were hanged in Frederick. Thanks Pat for the message. I'm sure it would help some Hoffman. I wish it would have helped me. ^..^ Harriet I went into town this morn to get my Father's (Harry O'Brian Hoffman) discharge papers from the Marines. It doesn't give a lot of info but his Social Security # is on it, when he was discharged and where he enlisted. He was living in Marion Co WV but enlisted in Pittsburg PA. that's about 2 hours from where he lived. I always assumed the men would have enlisted in the same town where they lived. He was b. 1897 and enlisted 1918. His operating Base was Hampton Roads VA If someone doesn't have a SS# for a relative you can find one on discharge papers.
