Kathleen, Thank you. My great grandmother's short-time husband did remarry, but I do not know who he married. My great grandmother also remarried, and had my grandfather, and then 6 children by her second husband. She was a lovely woman, and her daughters and granddaughters were also lovely. Hi Delores, You said to "Jo in PA": ".... I think my William Friend was the son of John H. Friend..." I have the "W.H.H. Friend s/o John H. Friend" ( John Henry Friend) down as the fellow who married Eliza Jane Umbel on Mar.22.1883 and had nine children with her. But maybe I have him attached to the wrong parents. I have been going through my notes and can't find how it was that I attached him to John H. & Savilla as the son "William" listed with them in the 1870 and 1880 census. I know I have it some where but..... . As for the other two W.H.H. Friends I listed in my post, they were supposed to be half-brothers. Evelyn Olsen's grandfather,1840 W.H.H. Friend Sr. is said to have had two sons named W.H.H. Friend. The first was illegitimate via Sarah Kelly and was known as "Harry". He was the one who married Martha Sabina Turney. The second W.H.H. son was by his wife Jane Frances Friend (d/o Jonathan Friend and Lydia Collins) and was known as Turkey Bill. He was the one that married Effie Friend (d/o Elijah Friend & Anna Eliza Friend, d/o Jonathan Friend & Elizabeth "Betty" Kinsey) in 1895. Hmmm? Bye for now, Kathleen
