My understanding is that the Indians (Shawnee?) from whom John L. Friend, Sr. purchased property along the river in the 1760s were transient, coming there only in the summer. I think the mouth of the Yough is actually in PA. I keep being referred to the present day Youghiogheny River Band of Shawnee. But they are not what I am looking. I am looking for the historical information concerning the Shawnee at the mouth of the Youghiogheny River. Where were they before there were in Md? When did they arrive in Md? How long were they in Md? Why did they leave? Where did they go from there? Are there any local history references naming the tribe? What if any archeological work has been in the area they inhabited? Thanks in advance. Laurie Beth Roman ==== MDGARRET Mailing List ==== Looking for your Garrett County ancestors?
