Hi Bonnie, You said: "..I am trying to determine if Rodeheaver was her middle name or a maiden name and she was a widow at the time of her marriage...." . I have Sevilla's first husband, Elijah Sines, listed as having died Nov.12.1940. Thus she wasn't a widow when she married her second husband, Charles Edward McRoby, on Feb.21.1908. . You said: "...Since both of Charles' wives last name were Sines, it would seem that perhaps the two women were either sisters, or sisters-in-law. Any help here?..." . O.K., let me walk you through this: Sevilla's 1st husband, Elijah Sines, is the s/o William Jonas Sines, (my hubby's 2xgreat-grandfather) gs/o Major Henry Sines and the nephew of Leonard Sines. Rheua Belle Sines was the d/o James Leonard Sines, gd/o the above Leonard Sines, ggd/o Major Henry Sines. Thus Sevilla's 1st husband Elijah Sines is the 1C1R (1st cousin once removed ) of Rheua Belle Sines. As for any relationship between Rheua and Sevilla: other than both were married to Charles, right now I would just say Sevilla was the ex-wife of Rheua's 1C1R. Off hand I personally don't think SINES was this Sevilla's maiden name. If it is her maiden name then I can't place her among any of the Sines families out of Garrett Co. at this point. Maybe she is from one of the Preston Co. Sines lines that I haven't tracked yet? Major Henry Sines (founding father of the Garrett Co. Sines) once lived in Preston Co. His homeplace was located at present day Cranesville. There were other Sines families in Preston Co. however at the time he moved his family to Garrett, and I have several cases of Sines women, (not descended from Major Henry) out of Preston Co. that married into Garrett Co. families. . Do you have a birth place for your Sevilla? I'm afraid I just haven't had a chance to really work on her yet. I suspect she was a Rodeheaver out of a family from another county/state besides Garrett Co., MD. You know, Elijah Sines & family had not always lived in Garrett Co. MD. His father, William Jonas Sines, was born in Preston Co. but moved to Garrett as a child. After the Civil War, when Elijah was about 12 or so, his parents moved to a remote area in Upshur Co. WV along with several other families from Garrett. Of father William's nine sons, only two lived out their lives in Upshur Co. however. The other seven sons had either stayed in Garrett or they returned to Garrett as young adults to live. Even father William himself returned to Garrett Co. after his wife, Eliza (Johnson) Sines, died in Upshur Co. in 1907. He then lived out the rest of his long life in Garrett Co., dying there when nearly 101 years old. Elijah Sines had returned earlier to Garrett as a young man. He is found, at nearly 21 yrs of age, living in Garrett Co.with his older brother John in the 1880 census. . I know that there are Rodeheaver families, some out of Preston Co., who once lived in (or still do) in Upshur Co. WV. You might want to consider checking them out as a family source for your Sevilla if she doesn't fit into any of the Garrett Co. Rodeheavers. In fact, I would suggest you look into the John & Delilah Rodeheaver family that lived in Pleasant, Preston Co. WV. They have a daughter named Savilla who is the right age. They are listed in the 1880 census under the spelling of RODEHAVER that year, (the Sines in Garrett were listed as SIGNS that year) and their daughter Savilla is listed as age 16 or b: abt. 1864. Your Sevilla was b: Sep.10.1863 so this could be a match. Worth a look into. Elijah Sines had several Sines aunts & uncles living in Preston Co. and I think he may have had a tie to the Pleasant area through his Uncle William Cupp. His Uncle Leonard Sines, Rheua's grandfather, lived in Portland until elderly. And of course, both Rheua & her father James Leonard Sines were born in Preston Co. The Sines families, though scattered about, remained close knit, so Elijah could have met up with Sevilla outside of Garrett Co. Right now the only "Sivilla/Sevilla/Savilla Sines" that I have in my Sines database is the granddaughter of William Jonas Sines. I am certain that this Sivilla was not married to Charles however. She was b: Apr.11.1894 over in Goshen, Upshur Co. WV, where she lived out her life, dying there when only 28 yrs old on Aug.11.1922. . Hope I have given you some good leads, meanwhile I will keep my eyes open for your Sevilla. Sorry, it has been so long since this was posted, but I finally have determined that you are right, Sevilla is indeed a Rodeheaver, and her marriage to Elijah Sines is where the name Sevilla Sines comes from. She IS the daughter of John Rodeheaver and Delilah Friend. Now that her identity is established, can anyone provide more info on her date of birth beyond "1863"? And children born, whether to her marriage to Elijah Sines or Charles Edward McCrobie? Thanks! -------Original Message------- From: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, June 16, 2003 14:24:15 To: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Sines - McCrobie Hi Bonnie, You said: "..I am trying to determine if Rodeheaver was her middle name or a maiden name and she was a widow at the time of her marriage...." .
