    3. Pat, I didn't find anything when I did a search on Ancestry for Persia Ruckle. In the 1860 Census, the only Ruckles in Allegany Co. were: William Ruckle, age 30 Lydia Ruckle, age 22 Franklin Ruckle, age 3 Margaret Ruckle, age 36 George Ruckle, age 30 Elizabeth Ruckle, age 22 Catherine Ruckle, age 1 This is an index of individuals - I didn't seperate them into family listings. In the 1850 Census, I found the following: Licking Township, Muskingum Co., Ohio 266 271 Benjamin F. Hall, 36, M, Farmer, VA Elizabeth, 23, F, MD Sarah A., 2, F, Ohio Mary G., 5/12, F, Ohio Pesia Ruckle, 43, F, 1400, MD Rebecca Ruckle, 15, F, Ohio Agnes A. Ruckle, 10, F, Ohio There were no relationships listed in this census reading. I was unable to find anything further. 3. One thing I found with Ancestry they aren't good at making out the names. You have to be awfully creative looking for some of those spellings. I usually go for the first name and an exact date of birth. And if it is an estimate I go for ex..1900, 1901 on down the line I have found lots of relatives that way.

    3. The problem is the indexes. I don't think Ancestry.com did them. Many typed surnames in the indexes don't even resemble the surname in the actual record; in which case the index is useless, or you have to get lucky. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 20, 2006 1:57 PM Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Keziah Friend > One thing I found with Ancestry they aren't good at making out the names. > You have to be awfully creative looking for some of those spellings.
