    3. Phyllis, Thank you for your input. I have a copies of the deeds of sale for some of the Winebrenner land. Actually Morris and wife Hannah sold some land ( not sure if it was all of it) to son Morris Jr. for $1.00. Later Morris and wife Millie sold some to the Peoples Mining Company and Morris Jr. also lost land to a bad dept. I'm sorry I should have done a "proof" read of what I wrote! To cut to the chase I want to know the date that Little Brown Lake was formed. Thank you. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, December 04, 2006 10:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: MDGARRET Digest, Vol 1, Issue 50 Today's Topics: 1. I also ran into more Crowe cousins that live on the Avilton/Lonaconing Road and who's property is near the lake. It was mentioned to me that the lake wasn't always there but I didn't get a time frame as to when it was formed. Does anyone know when and what was there before it was flooded? I kind of have a guess that it was stripped by a Timber Company before it was made into that lake. Does anyone know of an Indian camp that was back there? They were Shawnee and Algonquin and later moved on to Pennsylvania taking an old Indian trail that runs back there as told to me by a cousin whose 93 year old aunt grew up back in those woods. I don't know of the name of the trail. They were still back there in possibly the 1920's or 30's. They may have been run off by a Mining/Timber company which bought land in Midlothian from Morris Winebrenner before his death about 1850. On checking a map I see the lake lines up fairly well to the backside of Midlothian and that there is still some strip mining noted on the present day map. Thanks for any information or advice on how I many further research this. It would probably be recorded at Allegany Co. courthouse. Send for an index of land transactions for Morris and it might show something.
