Pat and ALL reading... Here is what I thought was in concrete (I have census records from 1850 to 1930 as well as WW I and WW II service registration documents) The only question I had until yesterday was that on the census from 1850 to 1860 it appeared that Garret V. Moon had married a different person. Mary Ann Enlow (1850 census) and Jane in all the rest of the census with several of the children staying the same, but I could not find any death of Mary Ann Enlow. Anyway, because of the Enlow marriage documents I thought Garrett's parents were Abraham Moon and Mary Hull. Then I saw someone had posted (with seeming authority) that the George Washington Moon that married Lucretia Savage (my grandmother had knowledge of them but we can't find her records since she died, though she did have me write the names in our big Bible through GW Moon and Lucretia) anyway, someone on a forum said that this GW Moon's parents were Jacob Moon and Eleanor Powell. I had seen where there was a Jacob born 1846 on the 1880 census with two GW Moon's, one young (3 years old - son) and the other 23 years old, which is the right birth year for my GW Moon, but it says he is the brother of Jacob..so I don't think that is right. So now my question is, is my gg grandpa George Washington Moon the son of Garrett V and Jane Moon or not? For any that might want to know my relation it is like this... George Washington Moon and Lucretia A. Savage (my great great grandparents) Gilbert Benton Moon and Ignatius Catherine Moon (my great grandparents) *(I personally remember this great grandma and visited some relatives in Cumberland MD when I was a little girl with her and my grandma Jane) Margaret Jane Moon Klingshirn Carroll (deceased) was my grandmother Kathleen Ann Klingshirn Blankenship is my mother Barbara Kay Blankenship Henderson (ME) Thanks for any help with clarifying my ancestry. Barb ************************************************************************* Barb, You need to pose your question about the parents of George Washington Moon on the Garrett Co. Mailing List. There are others reading who descend from these lines. It is not (Moon) my direct line but I do descend from the Tasker, Harvey and Enlow lines with connect to the Moon line. Buried at Short Run Cem. near Kitzmiller MD is Moon, George W. Aug. 13, 1857 - Dec. 16, 1930 buried beside Lucinda Susan, Dec. 14, 1854. Death date on her stone is blank; maybe no one came back to finish the engraving? Do you know his wife's name? There were two marriages for George W. Moon; one marriage was to a Susan Harvey, Feb. 11, 1883 and one to Lou Almeda Savedge (Savage) on May 21, 1884. Do you know his wife's name? I don't have it. I can't find a burial for Jacob and Eleanor. Garrett County Historical Society has a collection of obituaries that might contain George's; especially if he served in Congress. I can give you their address if you want. That is one reason I am asking...I am trying to find out who his parents really were. I am sure that that my gg grandpa was the delegate though..my grandmother told me about that and was quite sure of it. Any help with this would be appreciated. (I thought I had it all figured out with Garrett V and Jane as his mother...until I saw that one item on some forum). Thanks! Is there a database somewhere that would have that information? Thanks.
