That is the reason George's true status came up. My sister has applied for DAR. But DAR has no record of George as patriot. After seeing the reference in the Garrett County history page, we need to do some further digging. Walt Warnick has been unable to find anything to date. But I am still pursuing it. It may just be a "family" story with no basis.
