    3. Thank you for the additional information for Silas Durst. Genealogy becomes much easier when we all work together. Stanton Family Ancestors, Decendants and Related Families of Grantsville, Garrett County, Maryland". T. Ray Stanton and Guy S. Stanton, Sr., Grantsville, Maryland, 21536, 1973. Son of Jacob Durst, 2/7/1806-4/29/1886 and Elizabeth Engle Durst, 9/9/1819-2/5/1887, Salt Block Ridge, Grantsville, MD "Silas Durst - as a young man, went to the Black Hills section of South Dakota and established a residence in the town of Leadville, where he spent his life as a pioneer gold miner. He apparently accumulated considerable wealth during the better of the so-called gold rush days of the "old west". He never married and he never returned east, not even to visit the relatives. The cause of his death was never definitely determined, it is believed that as an old man, he was robbed of most of his money, just prior to his death. Apparently this act was committed by unscrupulous lawhers and "dead-beats", who always were numerous in the pioneer gold-mining towns of he west. Very few facts exist about his life. Unfortunately, only a small legacy remained for distribution to his brothers and sisters who resided in Md." Also so listed in the Durst family book by Ross Compton Durst as a son of Jacob and Elizabeth Engle Durst. ---------- Original Message ---------- From: "Pat Thompson" <Patty125@comcast.net> To: "'Sheryl Kelso'" <hskelso@atlanticbb.net>, <mdgarret@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Durst Date: Thu, 12 Nov 2009 12:49:17 -0500 Possible; not proven by me: Jacob Durst 1806-1886 & Elizabeth 1819-1887 Buried at the Twin Churches; New Germany [Garrett Co., MD] -----Original Message----- From: Sheryl Kelso [mailto:hskelso@atlanticbb.net] Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2009 11:42 AM To: Patty125@comcast.net; mdgarret@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Durst Pat, any idea who his mother was? ====================================== Looking for your Garrett County ancestors?
