Mrs. F. Dailey Groves Friendsville-Mrs. Jessie F. Groves, 78, Star Route, here, died yesterday at the Cuppett Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland, following a lingering illness. Born in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Joab J. and Diana (Taylor) Friend. Mrs. Groves was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Leisenring, PA Surviving are her husband, F. Dailey Groves; two brothers; Clarence Friend, Alliston, PA, and Allen Friend, Denbo, PA, and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home, here, where friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Donald Matthews will officiate. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery. Cumberland News Oct 21, 1977 Woman Makes Rare Visit To Oakland Oakland, MD, Sept 19- Mrs. Amos Friend, who lives in the Bray school community six miles north of here, came to town for the first time in 45 years. She said she came to the county seat only to sign old age pensions papers- otherwise she would not have come.
