The funeral of William DeWitt, 74, of Dry Hill, who died at 7 o'clock Friday night (11/25/1949) at his home after a four month illness, was held this afternoon with a prayer at the home at 1 o'clock. Additional rites were held at 2:30 o'clock in the Mt Nebo Church of God with the Rev Ed Davis of Star Junction officiating. Burial was made in the Church Cemetery. Mr DeWitt was born in Sang Run, MD June 9, 1874, a son of the late Thomas and Nancy Jackson DeWitt, and lived in the Connellsville vicinity for twelve years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Ina McCroby DeWitt, five sons, Clyde of White, Ore of Breakneck, Milton of Waltersburg, Lawrence of Smock, Thomas of Indian Head, five daughters, Mrs Myrtle Little of Lake Lynn, WV, Mrs Effie Sines of Connellsville, Mrs Magdalene Morris of North Canton, Ohio, Mrs Martha Pritt and Mrs Margaret Miller of Broad Ford, 52 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
