    3. BROADWATER- Jerome Duvall, son of J. S. and Mariam Broadwater, was born Sept. 26, 1882, and died Aug. 15, 1891, age 8 years, 10 months and 19 days. His death was caused by being run over by a Stearn threshing machine on the 2nd inst. Before passing away he called each one of the family to bid them goodbye, and then fell asleep in Jesus' arms. He was loved by all who knew him and the idol of his home. His funeral was preached by the writer in the M. E. Church, to a large concourse of sympathizing friends. We laid him to rest beside those who had gone before. We shall miss him because his seat will be empty. But whilst we miss him we mourn not as those who have not hope, for Jesus declared in His sacred Word, "Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God." The bereaved friends have the sympathy of the community. "This lovely child thus early torn >From our fond breasts away, With silent grief is gently borne To its lone bed of clay. We plant thee here, with tears bedewed, Bright flower of heavenly dye, And often shall our griefs renewed, These flowing founts supply. But thou shalt yet in beauty bloom, A plant of paradise; And gladden with they sweet perfume Our mansion in the skies. J. H. E.
