Mr. Wm. Frantz, Sr., died at an early hour this morning at the residence of his son, Mr. Daniel Frantz, of North Center St. Mr. Frantz was 85 years and 8 months old at the time of his death. He was well known to the people of Cumberland, and was a man of strict integrity and honor. He leaves surviving him the following children; Messrs.. Daniel, John N., Wm. F (or P.), Jr., and Charles W. Frantz and two married sisters, Mrs. Emma W. Brotemarkle and Mrs. Isabelle Gurley. The funeral cortege will leave the house tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock, and the funeral services will be conducted at Zion's Lutheran Church, on the Bedford Road, and the interment will be made in the cemetery connected with the church. Evening Times (Cumberland, MD) Dec 24, 1894 Mr. Daniel Frantz, in looking through an old English Bible a day or two ago that belonged to his wife's grandfather, Jones (of James) Bowden, found a piece of parchment, which contained the records of the birth of the Bowden family. The paper dated August 29, 1795, and Mr. Frantz prizes it highly as an old relic. Mr. Bowden was a native of England, and the bible in which the parchment was found is still older yet. Evening Times (Cumberland, MD) Feb 5, 1898 Another Aged Citizen Passed Away During the Night Mr. John Rice died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John N. Frantz, at 2 o'clock this morning at the residence of the latter at North Center St., aged 76 years. The deceased was a well known citizen and generally respected. He had been ill for a long time. His death was principally due to old age. He is survived by two daughters and one son. They are Mrs. George Rizer, of Springfield, OH, and Mrs. John N. Frantz, of this city and Albert Rice of St. Joseph, MO. The funeral will take place from the Frantz residence at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Evening Times (Cumberland, MD) March 7, 1906
