_____ Grantsville- Nelson E. Broadwater, 87, died suddenly yesterday at his home here. Born in Avilton, he was a son of the late Amos and Sarah (Bittinger) Broadwater. Twice married he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada B. (Chaney) Broadwater, October 1919. Surviving are his wife, Lucretia (Handwerk) Broadwater; four sons, Marshall L. Broadwater, Cumberland; Ellsworth A. Broadwater, Swanton; Carl W. and Vernon N. Broadwater, here; a daughter, Kathryn Frickey, here; a sister, Mrs. Effie Eberlin, Endicott, NY; 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Mr. Broadwater was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren where a service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Dean Huntly will officiate and interment will be in Bittinger Cemetery. Born in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Wiley) Handwerk. Her husband, Nelson Broadwater, preceded her in death. She is survived by two brothers, Ernest R. She was a daughter of Nelson Broadwater and the late Ada (Chaney) Broadwater. Surviving, besides her father and husband, are a son, Harley Brenneman, Bittinger; four brothers, Marshall Brenneman, Cumberland, Carl and Vernon Brenneman, New Germany, and Ellsworth Brenneman, Swanton; a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Frickey, of here, and six grandchildren. Mrs. Brenneman was a member of the Maranatha Assembly Church, Grantsville, where services were scheduled for today at 2 p.m. with Rev William Ferguson, pastor, officiating. Broadwater, 71, who died at his home in Salisbury, PA, Monday, after and illness of several months. He was a son of the late Henry and Rachel Broadwater and was born near New Germany, MD, where he lived for a number of years. He later resided in Lonaconing and fifteen years ago, moved to Salisbury where he engaged in farming and butchering, retiring a short time ago. He married Miss Clara Warnick in 1892. Those who survive are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Hoffman, two sons, Darius and Austin, all of Salisbury, PA, two sisters, Mrs. Stewart Boucher in Pennsylvania and Mrs. C. E. Ellithorp, Bittinger, MD, one brother, Perry Broadwater, Bittinger, MD and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Salisbury Church of the Brethren with Rev. M. Wampler, pastor officiating. Rev. Albert M. Wright of the Reformed Church assisted. A native of Avilton, he was a son of Nelson Broadwater, of Grantsville, and the late Ada (Chaney) Broadwater. he was employed as a trackman by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, and was a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church, Meadow Mountain. He is survived by his wife, Lennie (Broadwater) Broadwater; three sons, Ellis Broadwater, West Unity, Ohio, and Willard and dale Broadwater, both at home; six daughters, Mrs. Crowder Wilt, North Canton, OH; Mrs. Robert Jones, Woodbridge, VA; Mrs. Robert Harmon and Miss Helen Broadwater, both of Arlington, VA, and Loretta and Margaret Broadwater, both at home; four brothers, Marshall Broadwater, Cumberland; Vernon and Carl Broadwater, both of Grantsville, and Ellsworth Broadwater, Swanton; two sisters, Mrs Earl Frickey, Grantsville, and Mrs. Frank Brenneman, Bittinger, and seven grandchildren. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the North Glade Methodist Church with the Rev Paul R. Myers, of Greentown, OH, officiating Interment will be in the Fitzwater Cemetery at North Glade. JOSEPH BROADWATER Barton- Mrs. Charlotte Virginia Broadwater, 92, of here, died last night in Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, where she had bee a patient one week. A native of New Germany, she was a daughter of the late David and Eliza (Colmer) Broadwater. Her husband, Joseph Nelson Broadwater, preceded her in death. Mrs. Broadwater had resided here the past 41 years and was a member of the Barton Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church. She had taught in public schools here and also taught the Ladies Bible Class of the church for 15 years. Survivors include three son, Elmer Broadwater, Cresaptown; Ruben Broadwater, Westernport, and Clifton Broadwater, Lonaconing; three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Broadwater, Barton; Mrs. Orville Stark, Lonaconing and Mrs. Flossie Durst, Cumberland; a brother Lloyd Broadwater, Hagerstown; a sister, Mrs. Della Michael, Westernport; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The body is at the Boal Memorial Chapel here where the family will receive friends (hours). Services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Barton Methodist Church by Rev. Harry Jenkins, pastor. Interment will be in the New Germany Methodist Church Cemetery.
