    3. Nathan C. Browning Oakland, MD, May 18- Funeral services for Nathan C. Browning, 83, who died Sunday at his home in Sang Run, were conducted from St. Peter's Catholic Church, here yesterday, by Rev. W. F. Sauer, pastor. Mr. Bowman [sic] was a son of the late William and Ann DeWitt Browning, and a grandson of Meshack Browning, one of the pioneer settlers of Garrett County and author of 44 years of the life of a hunter. He was married to Annie E. Fazenbaker in 1880, who preceded him in death 30 years ago. To this union were born eleven children, seven of whom survive, namely G. W. and Edward M., of West Leisenring, PA; Mrs. John Hoffman and Mrs. S. B. Litman, Uniontown, PA; Mrs. A. C. Englehart, Meyersdale, PA; Mrs. M. L. Savage, Sang Run, and J. Frank Browning, of Oakland; also 32 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Cumberland Evening Times - May 18, 1939 [Excerpts] Oakland- Mrs. Carrie G. Shipley, 78, of Oakland Dr., Mt. Lake Park, died yesterday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient two days. Born in Blooming Rose, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Margaret (Sterling) Casteel and was the widow of Clyde W. Shipley who died in 1965. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mt. Lake Park, Oakland Chapter 67, OES, and Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Turney, and Mrs. Viola Losey, a son, Reid Shipley, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The body is at the Minnich-Stewart Funeral Home. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p.m. with Rev. James F. Remley officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Cumberland News - July 1, 1972 Mrs. Lulu Ellen Casteel Friend, wife of George E. Friend, Friendsville, died suddenly at her home Sunday evening at 8 o'clock of a heart attack. Mrs. Friend was a daughter of Taze and Margaret Sterling Casteel and was born May 20, 1887. She was aged 51 years, 11 months and 25 days. Her marriage with George E. Friend took place on July 29, 1916, and to this union two children were born, George Donald and John Eugene. Besides her husband and two sons she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Valeria Grove and Mrs. A. C. Griffin, of Baltimore; Mrs. Harry Frazee, of Bergoo, WV, and Mrs. Clyde W. Shipley, of Mountain Lake Park. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the home, Rev. R. L. Greynolds, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Friendsville cemetery.
