FRIENDSVILLE- Samuel Riley McCrobie, 79, died last night at his home at Hoyes. He had been ill about 10 months. Mr. McCrobie was a son of the late William and Rachel (Lewis) McCrobie. he was born in Garrett County August 26, 1884. he was a lifelong resident of Garrett County. His wife, Rosa (DeWitt) McCrobie, died in 1955. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Hazel McCrobie, Masontown, WV; Mrs. Dollie Smith, Morgantown, WV; Mrs. Rachel Murray, Delslow, WV; Mrs. Pauline Lewis, Friendsville, and Mrs. Virgie Shahan, Mona, WV; two sons, Joseph and Stewart McCrobie, both of Friendsville; 29 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a half-sister, Mrs. Katie Ellis, Kingwood. Mr. McCrobie was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, near McHenry, where services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Don Matthews. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Leighton-Durst Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence today where the family will receive friends after 7 p.m. today. Cumberland Evening Times Aug 21, 1964
