    1. [MDGARRET] Irish Palatines
    2. Beverly R. Robinson
    3. I do want to caution folks against reliance upon genealogical index sources. I came across a ship's manifest (copied years ago) for the ship Weser which brought Henry Ruckle and Catharine Ruckle Stark from Limerick to New York City on May 9, 1822. My gg grandmother, their daughter Mary Ann, was age 8 in the crossing. The Bittinger Book lists her in the group and Wayne was good about his sources, but several Maryland index books leave her out. I have a copy of the passenger's, and she is on it. Anyone interested in Irish Palatines might want to check out a good new book, The Irish Palatines in Ontario: Religion, Ethnicity, and Rural Migration by Carolyn Heald. The first 90 pages are relevant to descendants of Ruckles, Starks, Switzers who were among the Irish Palatines. Beverly Railey Robinson

    3. Thanks! lots here besides the great language description/aid. My German family in Garrett is Walther/Walter and wife's surname Becker, both from Hessen-Darmstadt.
