OBITUARY:  William D. Rhodes, Tuesday, April 10, 1979: William D. Rhodes, 81, of 459 West Piedmont Street, Keyser, W. Va. died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been a patient one week. A native of Westernport, he was a son of the late Charles Rhodes and Anna Mae (Ridings) Rhodes.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Chruch, Piedmont, a retired B&O Railroad engineer and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. Surviving are his widow, Zelda Mae (Wilson) Rhodes, three sons, Houston Rhodes, Short Gap; William Rhodes, here; Orval Rhodes, Cumberland, two daughters, Mrs. Floretta Kelly, Westernport, Mrs. Eva Pendergast, Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister Mrs. Beulah Costello, Shallmar, MD.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport today from 7 to 9 P.M. and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. tomorrow.  Services will be conducted there Thursday at 2 P.M. with interment in Philos Cemetery. In  the 1910 census for Swanton, Garrett County, Maryland William is living with grandparents William and Eliza Rhodes. I neglected to note what paper this was from, but I am sure it was the Cumberland paper.
