    3. Many of the present day Mellingers of Garrett County, MD are descendents of these Mellingers. This line originates in Ruchheim, Germany, then moves in 1751 to Ephrata in the Cocalico Valley of Lancaster County, PA; then in abt. 1781 to Lebanon in Lebanon County, PA; then in abt. 1836 to Westmoreland County, PA; then in the 1870's to Garrett County, MD. This summary goes from earliest American Mellinger emigrant Benedict (G) down to Peter (G1681). More info on the Mellingers can be found in *The Möllingers/Mellingers of the Cocalico Valley* published by The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley, Volume 33 (2008). *G Benedictus (‘Benedict’) Möllinger*, b. 1/25/1715, bp. 1/28/1715 at Ruchheim. Marr. *Anna Margaretha Hassert* in 8/6/1741 at Ruchheim. All four children died in Germany, with the last child’s death occurring on 2/14/1749. Benedict’s young brother Johann Jacob (BA) purchases property “on 2/17/1751 from his brother Benedict who went to Pennsylvania.” Benedict and Anna Margaretha Mellinger emigrated to Philadelphia with Benedict’s brother Johannes (B5) on the *Ship Saint Andrew*, arriving in Philadelphia on 9/9/1749. They resided in Cocalico Township. *G1 John Jacob Mellinger*, commonly known as ‘Jacob’, b. 7/22/1756, bp. 5/4/1783 (as an adult), Tabor Reformed, Lebanon Borough, Lebanon County; d. 7/25/1819. Tabor Reformed Church, Lebanon Borough, Lebanon County. *G16 Samuel Mellinger*, b. 1/17/1796, bp. 1/25/1796, Tabor Reformed, Lebanon Borough, Lebanon County; d. 3/29/1871, bu. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Westmoreland County, weaver and farmer. Marr. *Maria (‘Mary’ or ‘Polly’) McLaughlin* on 10/14/1821, Trinity Tulpehocken Reformed, Jackson Township, Lebanon County; b. 3/12/1803, d. 5/15/1876, bu. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Westmoreland County. *G168 John Mellinger*, b. 12/7/1839, d. 2/10/1901, Civil War veteran; bu. Bakersville Lutheran Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Somerset County.
