    3. Bureau of the Evening Times Lonaconing, MD Jan. 15 One of the best known residents of Garrett County was laid to rest in the family cemetery at Elbow, yesterday afternoon. Joseph Warnick, popularly known as "Elbow Joe" was found dead in bed last Sunday morning. He was 86 years of age and had resided all his life within four miles of where he was born. His wife died about eight years ago and he is survived by four sons: John, David, Walter and Samuel-the latter blind. He leaves a small regiment of grand and great grandchildren. There are two daughters living: Mrs. Gustavus Custer, whose husband was killed several years ago while logging. Another married daughter resides in West Virginia. Two of Mr. Warnick's brothers went into the Union Army but Joseph's sympathies were with the South. One of his brothers, William, died in Barton a few months ago. The other brother, James, died on the home farm several years ago. Deceased was a wagoner on the old national pike, in his young days, and later cleared a hundred acres of land at Elbow, and became a prosperous farmer. For many years his residence has been the polling place for voters of election district No. 11 and before the telephone was installed, the returns from Elbow Joe's were often awaited with anxiety. It goes to say "As Elbow Joe's goes, so goes the county." Mr. Warnick was a good citizen. He lived a peaceful, useful life, and died as he lived. While he slept he "slippit awa," as the Scotch say. His funeral took place from the old homestead at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and it was a very long procession that followed the remains to the grave. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Greene, a neighbor of the deceased. Evening Times (Cumberland, MD) Jan 15, 1908 "Buck" Warnick, who was seriously injured by falling from a wagon while on a fishing trip a week ago, is in a critical condition. Several of his ribs were broken and he was injured internally. Fearing the worst, he has made his will. Mr. Warnick resides at Laurel Run. Evening Times (Cumberland, MD) Sept 18, 1907 What was "Buck Warnick's" true name?
