3. Bev & all, I found the book you mention in your letter. The URL is passed along purely to share the fantastic list of names & content info in the book. I have no connection to the publisher. I do admire their openness prior to selling the book. Wish all would do that! http://globalgenealogy.com/countries/canada/ontario/general/resources/101185.htm My interest, as some of you know, are the Stark, Switzer, Ruckle, Custer families of Garrett Co., Md. Isabella Custer's husband, Daniel Switzer, was the son of Henry Ruckle, Sr's 2nd wife, Rosina/Rosanna Sibert-Switzer, and lived with the Ruckles in his teen yrs. Would like to find a clue as to burial place of Peter P. Switzer d. btw. 1851 - 1856. He lived in Accident, Md,., in 1851, but was bapt. in Berlin, Pa. I will be online a lot now as my husband is going through chemo for cancer and I need the diversion during this trying time. Warm regards, Carolyn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beverly R. 3. I do want to caution folks against reliance upon genealogical index sources. I came across a ship's manifest (copied years ago) for the ship Weser which brought Henry Ruckle and Catharine Ruckle Stark from Limerick to New York City on May 9, 1822. My gg grandmother, their daughter Mary Ann, was age 8 in the crossing. The Bittinger Book lists her in the group and Wayne was good about his sources, but several Maryland index books leave her out. I have a copy of the passenger's, and she is on it. Anyone interested in Irish Palatines might want to check out a good new book, The Irish Palatines in Ontario: Religion, Ethnicity, and Rural Migration by Carolyn Heald. The first 90 pages are relevant to descendants of Ruckles, Starks, Switzers who were among the Irish Palatines. Beverly Railey Robinson

3. Genie and Ellen -- Thank you for posting the obit of Ellis Rizer Shrout. That helps me fill in the line of Beckwith Shrout's descendents. It's a family with a lot of twists and I would give my right eye to find the burial place of Ellis' niece -- Queen Victoria Shrout. That is my big brick wall. . . sigh . . . --- On Sun, 6/14/09, GENIE RAGAN <GenieRagan@msn.com> wrote: From: GENIE RAGAN <GenieRagan@msn.com> Subject: [MDGARRET] New obits To: "MDALLEGA-L" <MDALLEGA-L@rootsweb.com>, "MDGARRET-L" <MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, June 14, 2009, 4:26 PM Hope y'all are having a restful weekend! 50+ new obituaries were posted June 13, 2009, on OurBrickWalls.com. 1. [MDGARRET] Excellent Point Made!
2. GENIE RAGAN
3. Thanks Ruth! We all need to be reminded about using others data as LEADS ONLY, not fact. Another point: Look before you leap! Don't assume that any "John Smith" is YOUR John Smith! Just recently, I had someone copy all the data in my online family tree for John Olen/Olin Wilhelm of Allegany Co and added the info to their tree for a John K. Wilhelm of Balto Co. MD. All census records etc. have John Olen/Olin in Allegany, and all the census records consistently have John K. enumerated in Balto. Co. The only similarity is they were both named John! Now all of John Olen/Olin's family has been combined with that of John K., which does not belong. Many items should have tipped the person off: repeated listing of "John O." and "John K." duplicate census records for the same date in two different locations (i.e. 1900 Allegany Co. John O.; 1900 Balto Co. John K.) different spouse names different childrens' names different ages different parents Thus, John K. has two sets of parents, several wives and about a cabillion children and descendants! So remember to look closely at data before you decide to add it to your tree, it will save a big mess later. 1. [MDGARRET] Harden question re: Merrill
2. Hi Priscilla, I will ask about that. You are right. Mary "Mollie" Beeghly married David M. Merrill, and they lived in Avilton. Mollie was daughter of Jeremiah Beeghly and?Anna Harden. Molly was also granddaughter of Jacob Beeghly?and Justina Horner. I have done a fair amount of work on these lines, but I have only what you have on the Hardens, I'm afraid.? Let's talk again! 1. Re: [MDGARRET] Merrill reunion on Saturday, June 6, 2009
2. Please, if anyone on the list is attending this reunion, remember there is a HARDEN connection: Anna Mary Harden b. 20 Dec. 1835 was the d/o George Harden b. abt. 1800. Anna Mary Harden married Jeremiah Beeghley 28 March, 1854. I believe one of their daughters married a Merrill. Could you please check to see if anyone at the reunion might be researching the Harden family? Thanks for any help. Phyllis

**************
An Excellent Credit Score is 750.
