    3. Charles Matthews Goes Under When Boat Capsize While Companion Reaches Shore Westernport, Oct. 31- Charles Matthews, 11 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Matthews, Maryland Ave., Westernport, was drowned in the Potomac River, opposite old Potomac baseball park this morning about 8 o'clock, when a boat occupied by him and Franklin Warnick, another youth capsized. Warnick swam to the shore and Matthews proceeded to swim up stream toward a boat which Richard Bennett was rowing. This was about 30 feet away and after the Matthews youth proceeded a short distance, he turned back in his excitement and went under. From the point where his boat capsized he could have made either the short or the other boat had he swam straight toward one or the other. The shore was only 25 feet away. Men, occupying three boats, dragged the river and about noon the body was recovered. Besides his parents the youth is survived by one brother, Ernest, and two sisters, Marian and Hazel. He attended Bruce High School. Cumberland Evening Times Oct 31, 1927 Truman Warnick, 70, Cleveland, Ohio, died yesterday afternoon at Allegany Hospital, where he was a patient since April 10. Surviving are two brothers, Edward Warnick, Bloomington, and George Warnick, Oakland; two sisters, Ida Duckworth, Firm Rock, and Mrs. Gertrude Jeffreys, Altamont; another nephew, Charles Warnick, Cumberland, and other nieces and nephews. The body was taken to a funeral home in Oakland. Cumberland Evening Times April 19, 1940 Franklin-Mrs. Rachel Alice Warnick, 91, wife of the late George Warnick, died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Benjamin Wilt, near here. Mrs. Warnick had been in ill health for three years. A native of Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Eille Layton, and resided in this area all her life. She was a member of New Germany Methodist Church, where she had at one time resided for twenty years. His wife was Leota Susan Kight b 1 Nov 1900 at Cross, WV. She was the d/o Charles G. Kight (1858-1934) and Sarah Matilda Daniels (1857-1943). Leota married Harry Allen Murphy (1893-1969) in Mineral Co., WV 5 Dec. 1934. She died Dec. 1981 in a Nursing Home in Michigan. My grandfather, William Benjamin Daniels (1867-1946), was a half-brother of Sarah Matilda Daniels Kight. Sarah Matilda Daniels was the d/o Daniel Jacob Daniels (1833-1892) and his first wife, Christiana Fleek (1832-1866), d/o Henry & Rebecca Fleek. My grandfather was the s/o Daniel Jacob Daniels and his 2nd wife, Mary Eva Randall (1848-1871). When Mary Randall Daniels died, Sarah Matilda was 9 yrs old and was a "little mother" to her young half brother. There was a lifelong affection between the two and my grandfather had a picture of Sarah Matilda in his wallet when he died. There is some question as to the middle name of Charles G. Kight. I have never found a document which gives his middle name. A grandson, told me his name was Gilbert. A granddaughter told me his name was Gaver. Another researcher grandson said his name was Ganes. A family Bible may have the answer but I have never had access to a Bible. Will be looking foward to hearing of your relationship and/or interest. In the meantime, HAPPY NEW YEAR. 3. Could you please help me assemble the names of children & their spouses for Thomas Allen Burch & Margaret Castel/Burch? Some names that I have come up with are: Calvin Burch md. Mary Munday Jefferson Burch md. Martha Friend John Allen Burch md. Amanda Casteel Solomon Burch md ??? Joseph I have a feeling there were several others whose names I do not know...perhaps some dughters? I seem to get the impression that the Burch, Casteel, Friend, Markley,Sisler, Uphold,& Wilhelm families must have been from the same neighborhoods or church groups & intermarried. It is interesting how these genealogies are inter woven. I love it!!!! ALSO....would any one perhaps have a picture of Thomas Allen Burch & Margaret Casteel? I have come up with pictures of one of his sons & grandsons etc. & would love to complete that lineage with his picture also. I do believe that he was the son of Thomas Burch Jr. & his wife, Margaret Griggs/Burch....& Thomas Jr. was the s/o Thomas Burch Sr. b. 1746 in Ireland d. 17 Apr. 1844 in Monongalia, W.VA. Thomas Burch Sr. was a Revolutionary war Soldier, serving in Maryland...1776-1783., and our Burch family Patriarch!!!! Thank you so very much for your previous help. You are such a wonderful source of help & truly an inspiration! Take care & God Bless! Clara W. Thompson St. Charles, MO that

    1. [MDGARRET] Attn: Pat Thompson re Leota Murphy
    2. Mary Galyon
    3. Sorry I missed your Harry Murphy obituary and am late responding.
