    3. Schlossnagle does not say how Kempton got its name. It was a mining town, and I bet a mine owner was named Kemp. Apparently the miners bought necessities from the company store, using company paper money with which they had been paid.

    3. I have Ghost Towns of the Upper Potomac but it doesn't say anything about how it Kempton got its name. If interested in other Kempton information I recommend Gilbert Gude' book about growing up in Kempton. Piedmont Herald, Thursday, Oct. 29, 1964 Edward Franklin Harvey, 74, of Morgantown, father of Kenneth Harvey of Bloomington, died Saturday in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Kitzmiller Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Halden N. Curtis. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Elk Garden. A native of Garrett County, Mr. Harvey was a son of the late John and Loretta (King) Harvey. He was a member of the Kitzmiller Assembly of God Church. In addition to his son, Mr. Harvey is survived by another son, Darl Harvey, of Morgantown; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Ryan, also of Morgantown; a brother, James Harvey, of Mt. Lake Park; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Stone, Crown, W. Va., and Mrs. Nellie Doman and Mrs. Emma Shillingburg, both of Elizabeth, N. J.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Piedmont Herald, Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1967 Funeral services for Robert Carroll Shrout, 74, who died Friday at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Morgantown, following a short illness, were conducted Monday morning at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport. Rev. Julius Goggin, of Morgantown and Rev. Joseph Smith, of the Assembly of God Church, Westernport, officiated. Interment was in Philos Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Shrout, Bersey Marple, Bernard Riggleman, Zeddock Wilt, Robert Garrett and Cleaver Tichnell. A son of George and Sarah K. Shrout, he was born Oct. 10, 1892, at Keyser. He moved from Westernport to Morgantown in 1937. He was a retired miner and belonged to Local Union 5650, U.M.W.A. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Wilson Shrout, 648 Keyser Street, Morgantown; three sons, Russell and James, both of Baltimore, Md. and Clifton, of Morgantown; five daughters, Mrs. Amel Beeman, of Barton; Mrs. Vernon Lutman, of Keyser; Mrs. Don Coddington, of Painesville, Ohio; Mrs. Edra Pixler, of Fairmont, and Mrs. Edwin Whisler, of Morgantown; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

    3. Hi Kim: My connection to the McKenzie family goes way back to George and Anna Marie Winter. They were born in the 1700's and died in the 1820's. They had 13 children. One of their daughters Elizabeth married Joshua McKenzie. Another daughter Catherine married his brother Jessie McKenzie. My line is through their daughter Susanna Winter who married Daniel O'Brien. They had 12 children. Their daughter Louisa O'Brien married Theodore Beckman. They had 13 children. Their daughter Mary Martha Beckman married Jacob Pence. They had 6 children. Their daughter Louise Pence married Charles Harshbarger. They had 4 children. Their daughter Deloris Harshbarger married Charles Butler. Meyers, 72, of Kolberg's Hill, Westernport, who died Monday at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Boal Funeral Home. Rev. Connell Chaney will officiate. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery. Military Honors were accorded at the grave by Victory Post 155, American Legion. A native of Moscow, Mr. Myers was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meyers. He was a retired employee of the Luke mill of W. Va. Pulp and Paper Co. His wife, Mrs. Ethel (Emerson) Myers, died July 2. Miss Kelly was a former Celanese Fibers Company employee and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport. Surviving are three brothers, Vincent Kelly and Charles Kelly, of Westernport and Robert Kelly, Lonaconing, and two sisters, Miss. Mary Kelly and Miss. Genevieve Kelly, Westernport. The body is at the Fredlock Funeral Home, were friends will be received today, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited tonight, Wednesday at 7:30 o'clock.

A native of New Germany, Md., he was a son of the late George Warnick and Alice Layton Warnick. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Full Gospel Church, Savage River. Surviving are three sons, Lester, Everett, Pa.; Lonnie, Westernport, and Grant, of Germany, one daughter, Mrs. Osborne Wilson, Westernport. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard, Barberton, Ohio; Stanley, Barton, and Clarence, New Germany; five sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Broadwater, Barton, Mrs. Janet Wilt, Westernport, Mrs. Milton Raley, Frostburg, Mrs. Harry Comer, Barton, and Mrs. Blanche Pritts, Westernport, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, tomorrow, Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Rev. E. Joseph Cote, associate pastor, officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Burza Marple, William Grant, Louis Biddle, Owen Lewis, Frank Sowers, Tracey Riggins, Harry Hopkins and Elwood Gift. Born in Pekin, Mr. McKenzie was a son of the late Lawrence and Kathryn McKenzie. He was employed as tour foreman in the machine room at Westvaco for 45 years and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Besides his daughter, he is survived by his widow, Carrie (Ort) Kiddy McKenzie; a son, William A.     2. Hi, I am in need of help finding an obituary for Bud basil Shipp born March 19, 1896, and died Oct. 15, 1954. He is buried in the Stemple ridge Cemetery with his wife Lillie ? I think she was a Stemple and she also died in 1954 I do not know what date. I am willing to cover any costs if any, Can anyone tell how I can get a death certificate for Bud Shipp? Thank You.
