I need a look-up on the birth and death records of Preston County.... Can anyone tell me if: #1 Rachel Williams who is born abt 1832 and died 15 Oct 1878, and was married to William Rodeheaver 20 Dec 1852 --- and --- #2 Rachel Enlow born 22 Apr 1832 and died 10 Aug 1903 married to William Brandon Rodeheaver Abt 1853 are the same? Or are we really talking about 2 different wives of William? The children in both families are similar - not entirely matches, but I have 2 different death deaths dates for the 2 Rachels. On the 1880 Census of Preston County, there is no mother or wife shown, which sounds like it fits for #1 However - I have NO children being born to Enlow after 1878 - so somewhere here, someone has I think confused the two Rachels. I have James Allen from the birth records - but don't know if I copied the or if it was there - the mother's surname? James was born 12 Dec 1856. I have a death date of Rachel Williams (but I don't even know where I ever got her surname) that says my source was the death records of Preston County I have seen both these familes at Family Search - but never Williams for the mother's name. And even just now - as I type this, I am wondering if there aren't really three families here - that someone has mixed up. A reference to William Brandon and Rachel Enlow Rodeheaver at Family Search does not contain all the children I expected it to... ANY help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Kenneth, I suggest you check for a church connection. For instance, the Church of the Brethren still functions with annual meetings. And please consider donating the postcards to the Garrett County Histoical Society. It's a great way to protect and share them. Check for the church affiliation. For instance, the Church of the Brethren still has annual meetings. And have you considered donating the posrcards to the Garret County Historicak Society? Pat, Please thank Art Grady. I will forward this to my computer and download it. I am not directly descended from W. Scott Garner, but am related. Thank you for your help. I have been wanting to contact you about the September board meeting. I hope you can be there, as I did not have it on my calendar and have out-of-town guests coming that weekend. I have picked up a valuable spearhead from the collection and hope to identify any other items of sufficient value to return to the board so they can make a group decision on what to do with such items. We could display them, sell them on EBay or loan them out to the Smithsonian to get our name known in more quarters. I don't think the majority of the items need to be removed from the shop (she still has not put them up for sale, as she is waiting for better guidance) and we can get some funds for new curtains, etc. However, anything of true historical significance or ceremonial value will not be sold. Hopefully, Don will not be upset if I have creditable evidence for bringing them back to the board. Since I will not be at the meeting, I am hoping someone will see that a discussion is held and not an arbitrary decision made. Please let me know when you will be returnig to Frederick Co. This is a private discussion and I would like to talk to you in person before info is shared on the internet. I hope you are having a great summer. Delores

Hello, I hope someone out there can help with the following... My wife's grandmother saved everything and passed on to my wife. My wife has a vast collection of correspondence mostly in the form of "one cent" post cards that were mailed to her grandmother from Garrett Co. These are dated through the early 1900's, they are from various relatives. Most of the relatives were living in and around Accident, Bittinger, Grantsville, and Friendsville, Garrett Co, MD at the time. My wife's grandmother was in Somerset Co, PA at the time. My question and what I would really appreciate, and be grateful for any assistance, or suggestions as to where information possibly can be found... there is reference to going to an annual meeting in York, PA. This notation is referred to generally each year around the beginning of June and early July. A couple of times it was mentioned they stayed 10 days. This "annual" meeting referred to...does anyone know what this meeting was about, what the yearly purpose was, where in York, PA it was held, and why would family members from Garrett Co. go to it every year??? Anyone, any thoughts??? Thank you, Kenneth
