Isaac was married to Nancy Boyer 26 Sep 1878. he was also married to Perlina Sowers (1876-1932) sometime after 1883. August 6, 1936 - The Republican Levi Resh, a well known farmer, and life-long resident of the Bittinger community died early Monday morning, July 27th, at the age of 74 years. His death was due to a complication of ailments, and he had been ill for many months. Mr. Resh was a highly respected and prosperous farmer, having owned and operated one of the finest farms in this section. His wife, the former Anna Wiley, and seven children survive him. One brother, Simon Resh, near Jennings, Md., and a number of grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held on Wednesday from the Bittinger Lutheran Church. October 31, 1936 - The Republican Walter C. Ready - After being ill with heart trouble for a few weeks, Mr. Ready died Tuesday morning December 29th at two o'clock. He was born near Petersburg, W. Va., his parents being Jacob and Mary Ready, and after living some years in Piedmont, Mr. Ready came here about 30 years ago as telegraph operator for the B & O and continued in that position until his recent illness. Besides his wife, who was formerly Miss Martha Custer, Mr. Ready is survived by one son, Roland, and a daughter, Mrs. Albert Schrock, also one brother Fred of North Tonowanda, N. Y., and a sister Mrs. Harry Jones of Keyser, W. Va. Funeral services conducted by Rev. David Trimble and Rev. C. A. Shilke of Oakland and Rev. W. H. Gilmore of the M. E. She was the wife of Louis Ross, who is well known in this vicinity. The couple have lived near here since their marriage about twenty years ago. Surviving are her husband and seven sons. George Ross, who is employed at the Green Lantern Inn on the National Highway, Louis, Clark, Reed, Bruce, Joseph, and Patrick Ross, at home. She is also survived by one brother, Wilbur Steward, of Piedmont, W. Va., and five sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Brown, of Cumberland, Mrs. Cletis Rogers, of Burlington, W. Homer Rodeheaver was from Blooming Rose, I think. He travelled with the great evangelist, Billy Sunday. I remember my father introducing me to him when I was a little girl. Later, I was thrilled by a picture of Homer on the cover of Life magazine, floating on the Dead Sea and playing his horn. Obituaries from the Garrett Journal July 3, 1902 John R. Durst died at Levels, W. Va., on Sunday June 22d, 1902, aged 74 years. Mr. Durst was a native of this county living near Avilton, where he married Miss Elizabeth Robeson, daughter of the late Wm. Robeson. In 1870 he had the misfortune of losing one of his hands by getting it caught in a threshing machine after which he sold his farm to A. J. Lancaster and moved to West Virginia. He leaves a widow, four daughters, and one son all grown and married. They are Mrs. Wm. More and Mrs. Frank Shanholtz of Levels, W. Va., Mrs. Louis Race of Davis, W. Va., and Mrs. John Roberts of Frostburg, Md., and Mr. Thomas Durst of Levels, W. Va. He was a devout Christian having been member of the German Baptist church for over forty years. March 10, 1904 Mrs. Margretha Diefenbach, an aged and respected resident of Garrett county, Md., died at the home of her son Lewis, about two miles east of Grantsville, Feb. 28th. She was aged 79 years, 10 months and 19 days. The funeral took place at Grantsville, MD., Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. E. S. Johnson, D.D., Salisbury, officiating. --- Somerset Star May 19, 1904 Mrs. Charles Durst died at her home at New Germany this county on Friday May 13th of a complication of diseases. She leaves a faithful husband and ten children to mourn their sad and irreparable loss. Her funeral was held at the M. E. church on last Saturday afternoon and her remains were interred at the New Germany cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Hilbish and J. Miller of Grantsville. March 23, 1905 Mrs. Dille, widow of the late Judge John A. Dille, died Tuesday last at Morgantown, W.Va., after a long illness, aged 76 years. Shock, caused by the serious illness of her son-in-law, Professor Frederick L. Emory, hastened her death. She is survived by three children. The deceased lady was a sister of Mrs. D. I. Totten of Oakland, and Mrs. Totten is ill at her home and unable to attend the funeral.
