    1. Re: [MDGARRET] RE: Paugh & Warnick
    2. Walt Warnick
    3. Sam, I, too, am very interested in the Warnick/Paugh family that Pat discusses below. Just to add a couple tidbits of information, the head of the household, whose name is recorded in family tradition as William Warnick, was listed with different given names in early records. These names include Henry and "Burr". A marriage license dated January 7, 1871 lists him (at least I think it is him) and Mary Ann Paugh. We have the curious circumstance that two Warnick men (my ancestor Joseph William Warnick and Pat's husband's ancestor William Warnick) married two Paugh women (Sarah Catherine Paugh and Mary Ann/Jane Paugh). Both Warnick men were born in the mid-1800s. Their households were located within several miles of one another. Joseph William Warnick and Sarah Catherine Paugh obtained a marriage license on December 21, 1860. The other Warnick couple obtained a marriage license on January 7, 1871. Might there be a connection? Walt Warnick ---------------------------- Patricia Hook wrote: >Sam, >William (Clay ?) Warnick and family did live in Garrett Co. in 1920 Census in District No 1. 1. [MDGARRET] Sarah Catherine Paugh
    2. Walt Warnick
    3. Sam, Sorting out the Paugh family is a great contribution to western Maryland family history. While you are checking Paughs, may I ask that one more be checked? My ancestors include Joseph William Warnick (born about 1840) and his wife Sarah Catherine Paugh (born about 1840. A Bible record from Joseph William's grandmother lists Sarah Catherine's birth as May 19, 1840, but because that record was made many years after Sarah Catherine's birth; I consider the birth year less than totally reliable.). The Warnick couple spent their adult lives on Backbone Mountain a few miles west of Bloomington. Joseph William Warnick grew up in this same area, but I don't have any information where Sarah Catherine was raised. I have lots of information about their descendants, but have always been unsure about Sarah's parents, as these are all the clues I have to go on. Is Sarah Catherine Paugh included in your account of the Paugh family? Thanks. Walt Warnick

It's his wagons that are on display at the Springs Museum--one was built especially to handle very heavy loads. My 3rd g-grandfather Peter HERSHBERGER m. Rhea HETRICK's mother. . . . and John HENDRICK is probably from the Carl HENDRICK'S family that immigrated to American in the mid-1770s--I don't know how my great grandfather Conrad fits into this family yet. HERSHBERGERs, BEACHYs and LIVINGOODs -- are all my grandma Elizabeth SLABAUGH's line. The Bittner mentioned in the article is from the BITTINGER line. Elizabeth's sister Hattie V. SLABAUGH (6/30/1875) m. Harvey BITTNER. This is getting more and more interesting. Lois

    3. Carolyn, Nicholas MOSSER married Magdalena DELLENBACH, who was another daughter of Peter Dellenbach. Nicholas MOSSER came to Allegheny Co. 2. Sam & Pat, If you run across a Lucy (Lucinda? Paugh) in your information, I'd be interested. Married Joseph Clayton Slabaugh (b. 1889), son of Samuel (1845-1910) and Christena Durst Slabaugh (1850-1928), my grandma, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Slabaugh Hetrick's parents. I've been watching the posts on the Paughs and I haven't seen anything related yet. Samual Slabaugh was the son of Joseph (1789) and Elizabeth Hershberger from Grantsville.

    3. Hi Pat: I only have one Isaac Paugh with the middle name ALLEN. He was the son of James Edward. I have him married first to Nancy Jane Boyer, 2nd to Perlina Sowers. In the 1900 census "Isaac A." was supposed to have been born in Sept. 1855. His wife was Perlina and they had been married 7 years (1893) and she was the mother of three children. When he married Nancy Jane Boyer, he indicated he was born in 1855. When he married Perlina Sowers however (you sent me the marriage info), he was a widower and indicated he was born in 1863. So he lied <G>. The "Graves" book has it that Nancy Jane Boyer died in 1883. I think that was a typo, should have been 1893. I have Isaac (no Allen) Paugh, born sometime between 1856 and 1861 as a son of Nicholas Paugh & Eliza Bray. 3. Hi Pat, I have an Elizabeth Ann Friend, b: Mar.07.1828, (no death date though) d/o Israel & Dorcas (Willison) Friend, but she is listed as the wife of William McCabe, with whom she had three daughters Louisa Ellen, Mary Frances & Susanna McCabe. This Elizabeth was still single in 1850. She is listed in the 1850 census in the household of her widowed mother Dorcas Friend on page 44b, line 6, at age 26. According to "Indian Blood", when Israel & Dorcas went to Missouri in the fall of 1828 daughter Elizabeth was 6 months old so 1828 would seem to be her correct birth year. Oddly enough I have both Elizabeth & Wm. McCabe listed as buried in the Blooming Rose Cem. too. Hmmm? What do you have? ======= You said: "...Isiah is the son of Jonathan Friend 1787-1879 and Elizabeth Kinsie 1802-1890 and they have a daughter Elizabeth. I have a birth year of 1833 (not my work) and no husband for her........." . This daughter Elizabeth seems to have married a GREEN and had a son named Elmer Green b: abt.1864. In the 1880 census Jonathan Friend's widow "Elizabeth Friend" is found living with her widowed daughter "Elizabeth Green" and grandson Elmer Green in Accident: ================================================= Elizabeth FRIEND Self W Female W 77 DEL Keeping House DEL DEL Elizabeth GREEN Dau W Female W 46 MD Keeping House MD DEL Elmer GREEN GSon S Male W 16 MD At Home MD MD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Source Information: Census Place Accident, Garrett, Maryland Family History Library Film 1254509 NA Film Number T9-0509 Page Number 345C ================================================= I have Elizabeth (Friend) Green's sister listed as Anna Eliza.
